Description

Among the apples and pears, basil and zucchini at AM Fresh Fruit, shoppers will find a range of unusual and hard-to-find fruit and veg. In good supply at the moment are the large, cone-shaped banana flowers, used commonly in Vietnamese and Thai dishes, and Thai eggplants, those small, round purplish balls you'll need to make an authentic Thai curry. Brothers Michael and Tony Margheriti also stock galangal, fresh turmeric, jackfruit, green mango and the tropical star apple. At other times you might find luffas (similar to a zucchini) which, when dried, can be used as a loofah. And if you need some guidance, staff are happy to share their tips on preparation and cooking.
